Princess P.E.A. (Positive Energy Amplifier) is an emerging artist whose journey is shaped by resilience, family, and a deep connection to communicating through music. Her early life was marked by trauma, poverty, and separation from her immediate family at the age of ten.
She found strength and gained communication skills living with her extended family, such as her grandmother, Carrie Farley, a schoolteacher, actress, and poet who instilled hard work, discipline, and value. Farley, known for her stage performances and her poem "I am the Drum," inspired Princess P.E.A.’s creativity. However, she discovered solace and a profound bond with music at her Aunt Georgette's jazz-filled home.
To cope with early adversities, Princess P.E.A. turned to dissociation—a response to trauma that helped her endure. Music became her refuge while she was separated from her immediate family, particularly through her uncle, Eddie Gale, a renowned jazz trumpeter celebrated for his work in free jazz. Listening to him practice while her aunt braided her hair on the weekends brought her peace and sparked creativity, helping her navigate struggles.
Eddie Gale, San Jose's Official Ambassador of Jazz, shared his gift with the world, saying, “I thank God for expressing music through me, and I share it in peace and love.”
After reuniting with her family, her mother prioritized music by involving them in church choirs. Her three older brothers also pursued musical paths, with her eldest brother, Avion Howard, sharing his passion for drumming and beatboxing. His morning routines of creating beats unwittingly connected her to sound and rhythm, shaping her neurological bond with music.
In college therapy, Princess P.E.A. uncovered past traumas that fueled abandonment issues and explored the likelihood of undiagnosed autism and ADHD. Reflecting on her childhood, she recognized her struggles with tone, communication, and social cues. Music, deeply embedded in her upbringing, ultimately became her language and a tool for healing—a bridge from dissociation to presence.
Thomas Chamberlain, known as Water Man and the second oldest brother, inspired the young Princess P.E.A. with his passion for playing the church piano. His love for the keyboard evolved into a dedication to creating gospel music. Today, he produces music videos and has gained acclaim in California for his gospel urban hit, “Gospel Skate Night.”
In 2000, Chauncey Chamberlain Godson, her third oldest brother, became a rap music producer in San Diego, launching his career with the group "The Pack of Blacks" and introducing the San Diego community to underground rap. He later collaborated with artists like E-40, Nipsey Hussle, Andra Day, and Suga Free.
During the 90s, her three brothers formed the group "Hokey Mask Niggas," performing locally and working with other artists. Princess P.E.A. was deeply immersed in this vibrant musical environment, often attending their practices and studio sessions. This exposure sparked her passion for the piano, inspiring her to spend hours playing and dreaming of performing for large audiences.
Despite her early passion, life circumstances delayed her journey into music. As the only girl in a religious household, she often felt a profound sense of solitude, which she transformed into creativity through poetry and music. However, with limited resources and her mother, Stefanie Farley, devoted to raising three children as a single parent, her musical dreams had to be placed on hold.
In 2003, she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald (Ronnie) Amerson, a beatmaker inspired by her brothers' music. Ronnie reignited her love for music, but with the birth of their son, Camron, and Ronald’s deployment to Iraq in 2006, she shifted focus to parenting and pursued humanitarian careers.
In 2013, she served as a firefighter in Atlanta before transitioning to a medic role in Las Vegas. Later, she became a mental health case manager and, in 2020, earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology.
While pursuing a master’s in Cognitive Behavioral Psychology, she was promoted to Assistant Director for Easter Seals of Nevada (now Capability Health), where she developed therapeutic activities and a garden for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The onset of COVID-19 led to the closure of her workplace, prompting fears of homelessness and family separation. Her family also had to say goodbye to her Uncle Eddie on July 10, 2020. To cope, she invested in creating a home garden, cultivating vegetables such as sweet peas and lettuce while growing indoor herbs like lavender, valerian, and nettle for teas.
Her husband’s supportive gestures of serving these teas with uplifting words during the morning harvest inspired the creation of Princess Peas Garden, offering affirmation herbal teas designed to balance all seven chakras. This venture provided mental, emotional, and brief financial stability.
During her business’s second year, Princess P.E.A. recognized dissociation as a lingering defense mechanism from her youth. Therapy revealed she had ADHD and unresolved childhood trauma, manifesting as maladaptive daydreaming. Determined to heal, she studied medicinal plants to improve focus and rediscovered the therapeutic power of music by returning to the piano, reigniting her passion.
Motivated, she pursued work in agriculture, becoming a Senior Flower Technician at Green Thumb Industries, where she connected with creative colleagues. Freestyle sessions with coworkers revived her musical aspirations, leading her to compose her debut single, “I Thrive,”. With her brothers’ support, she produced the track to inspire self-confidence, positive affirmations, and reconnection with one's roots.
Plants provide everything we need. Not just for the body, but for the mind and soul.
